Pontoon Boats - What Material would you use to Build a Pontoon at Home?

PVC pipes, 12 inches wide x 16 feet long, connected together. I've got 2 pontoons at home that I built this way.|||55 gallon drums welded end to end for the pontoons. Then 1-1/2" square aluminum tubing for cross bracing as a sub-structure. Then pressure treated 4x8 sheets of 3/4" or 1" plywood as decking. Then you could finish out the deck with a number of options.

35 gallon HDPE ( High Density Polyethylene) Drums would probably work for pontoons pretty well also. Securing them end to end would probably be a little more difficult though.|||ll depends on the weight your putting on it 20 aluminum pontoons would be the best check scrap yards or salvage. using drums will work for a short time till they leak. PVC tubes don't have much bouncy. They also make poly plastic that can be used. Keep it light or it will not carry much weight.
