How easy is it to put a pontoon boat into the water? Is it something we can do for the day?

Is it better to rent a spot on the water or can we trailer it to the lake and put it in and out for the day? I have alot of experience with boats but not pontoons.|||Yeah, pontoons are as easy as regular boats. Whether you are using a inner 'toon scissor type or a double bunker just slide it in and haul it out like any other boat.

Best of luck|||Takes about 10 mins. I hauled and launched 15 pontoons for a resort in Mt Shasta.

The simplest is to put it deep enough in the water to start the motor with out running it out of the water. Then disconnect the front winch line and back in with the engine running at about 1500 in reverse.

As soon as it (the boat)starts to move off the trailer- signal the driver and he will stop and you will keep going. If the wind is blowing, you may need to put a little corrective steering into the process till you get clear of the trailer.

Once out in the water, the wind will tell you which direction you are going to turn around. As the bow swings past the dock, hard steer (still in reverse-this is the key) to pull the stern round and when that runs out of momentum, spin back the other way and throttle up forward till you are dock side.

With just a little practice you will get this dance down cold.

To retrieve, just have the winch line pulled all the way out. Hook it up as soon as possible-- with the pointy end of the pontoons in their cradle. Then power the boat to line up with the cradles. Have the winch operator winding like crazy and you apply power to assist the process and keep the boat in the cradles.

The secret is to not have the trailer so deep in the water that it (the trailer) will not help guide the boat into position. A free floating boat over any trailer is a nightmare. They have a life of their own. And never come down on the trailer correctly upon retrieval.|||Just as easy as a boat to trailer. The decision will be how far do you have to go to get to a ramp. If you are real close then in/out will be a snap. If it is cheap to dock overnight 5-10 $ and it is close to you then go that way.|||Simple to do on a trailer. Takes maybe 10 minutes. All you need is a boat ramp.|||Need a truck and good ramp at high tide or it you might have issues.
